Content Submissions
How to submit content
We welcome content submissions to our growing archive. If you have a document that you would like to include, but aren’t sure for any reason, please reach out to us!
For a document to be considered for sumission to the archive, aside from the matter of relevance to the Irish Migration and history of the Irish Immigration to Canada, there are some technical and legal considerations.
Acceptable formats
Final versions of all web content submissions must be in one of the acceptable formats shown below:
- PDFs (Preferred)
- Word documents
- Graphic files (High resolution): .jpg (Preferred), .gif, .png, .bmp
- Videos (Mp4) –Videos will be placed on our YouTube Channel.
- Audio files (MP3)
- PowerPoint presentations (.pptx)
Text
- Keep content brief for news, events, and project updates.
- Provide links to long documents, audio files, video, and PowerPoint presentations as needed.
- Text referring to files of any kind should include a link to the file.
- Embed links in cogent words or phrases in the text. (Don’t use “click here.”)
- Italicize titles of publications or articles.
- Use bold (not italics) for emphasis but use it sparingly.
- In any content, use the trademark symbol (superscript TM) in the first reference The Irish MileTM interactive map project.
- Format articles as follows:

- Title: size 16, Aptos bold font
- Header 1: size 14, Aptos bold font
- Header 2: size12, Aptos bold font
- Header 3: size12, Aptos bold italic font
- Body text: size 12, Aptos font

Graphics
- Provide the source/credit for all graphic files.
- If the graphic is in an article, provide a caption that can include the source/credit of the graphic.
- Graphics should be of the highest resolution possible.
- Send graphic files separately even if the graphics are placed in your text.
Permissions / Consent
- Ensure that you have permission to use/post content.
- Seek graphics that are not subject to copyright, or have licensing information for them.
- Secure permission to use photographs of people in photos you take or who are being interviewed.
